Welcome to the Saskatchewan Motivator24-February-2002: Canada Wins Gold, and I Find It!What a great day! Canada re-asserts its' prowess in today's hockey team against the US. It was fun, listening to the game in the car as we drove back home today. We got home just in time to see the game's end on television. It was a "tremendous" feeling hearing "Oh Canada" and seeing our athletes on the ice, and I probably won't forget these moments any time soon. Also, today I found some audio files from the lectures of Dr. Donald Knuth. He has a book called something along the lines of "Things Computer Scientists Rarely Talk About", and these lectures came about before the book. So, I've got several hours of interesting listening ahead of me.
Have a great day, and a better week! 17-February-2002: New Flag Flaps Fabulously at UniversityYesterday, on my way to work at the University, I saw a work crew working on the flagpole outside the Classroom Building. I just happened to be walking with a fellow student and co-worker. He commented on how he never realized we had a flag until about a year, or so ago. Today, I saw a brand new flag atop the pole. The previous one had lost about 1/3 of it's last red band and was raggedy looking. The sight of the new flag got me feeling patriotic and proud to be Canadian once again. Our flag is a unifying force. One that, until today, I had forgotten. Well, not so much forgotten as misplaced beneath all the other things we daily deal with. But, it was definitely a very great moment for me. One other thing (before I forget...), today being the 17th of February means that there is one more month till St. Patrick's Day. That means exactly one month left to enjoy those delicious "Shamrock Shakes" at McDonald's. Yes, McDonald's brought back the Shamrock Shake! So, if you like mint, try one as soon as you can!
Have a great day, and a better week! 16-February-2002The Saskatchewan Motivator is the place to find positive material relating to the province of Saskatchewan. |
